Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DTF transfer?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) is a printing method where your design is printed onto a special film, coated with a hot-melt adhesive powder, and cured. You then heat press the transfer onto your garment. DTF gives vibrant, full-color, highly detailed prints with no weeding and no fabric pre-treatment. It's a great fit for custom apparel businesses, teams, events, and one-off projects.

Is there a minimum order?

There's no minimum for local pickup. Order a single small print or a full gang sheet. Shipped orders have a $10 minimum. Our Individual Print Builder lets you order single designs from 2" x 2" up to 12" x 17", and our Gang Sheet Builder lets you fill a 22"-wide sheet with as many designs as fit.

What file types and quality do you need?

For the best results (suggested industry standard):

  • Format: PNG with a transparent background, PDF, or SVG.
  • Resolution: 300 DPI at the actual print size.
  • Color: RGB is fine; avoid semi-transparent pixels, soft shadows, and very thin lines (under about 0.5 pt/1 mm), which may not transfer cleanly.
  • Backgrounds: remove any white or colored background you don't want printed.

We print files exactly as submitted and don't edit or check every order, so please review your file carefully for size, resolution, and transparent background before ordering.

How fast will I get my order?

We run production once a day at 1 PM Central, Monday through Friday. Orders placed by 1 PM CT go into that day's production run, and orders placed after 1 PM CT go into the next business day's run. We're closed on weekends, so weekend orders go into Monday's run.

Turnaround options (choose on the product page before you add to cart):

  • 2-Day: optional upgrade.

How do I press my transfers?

Use a heat press for best results. Our recommended settings:

  1. Temperature: 315°F (157°C)
  2. Pressure: Medium to firm
  3. Time: 15 seconds
  4. Peel: Cold peel. Let the transfer cool completely, then peel the film slowly.
  5. Re-press: Cover with parchment or a Teflon sheet and press again for 5–10 seconds to lock in durability.

Pre-press the garment for 3–5 seconds first to remove moisture and wrinkles. Polyester and heat-sensitive fabrics may need a lower temperature. Test on a scrap or inside seam first.

How do the prints hold up in the wash?

Properly pressed DTF transfers are soft, flexible, and made to last through many washes without cracking or peeling. Some of our prints have lasted well over 100 washes, but results vary with how each garment is washed and cared for, so we can't guarantee a specific number. Avoid washing in hot water after the print is applied. Care tips (suggested):

  • Wait 24 hours after pressing before the first wash.
  • Wash in cold or warm water (never hot).
  • Tumble dry low or hang dry.
  • Don't use bleach, and don't iron directly on the print.

What fabrics can I use DTF transfers on?

DTF works on a wide range of materials: 100% cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, tri-blends, fleece, denim, canvas, and nylon (nylon may need adjusted settings). Use it for t-shirts, hoodies, hats, totes, aprons, and more. For unusual or coated fabrics, test one piece first.

Any tips for building a gang sheet?

  • Our gang sheets are 22" wide and come in lengths from 36" to 240". Pick the length that fits your designs.
  • Leave about 0.25"–0.5" of space between designs so they're easy to cut apart.
  • Rotate and nest designs to use space efficiently and get more prints per sheet.
  • Check sizing before you order. Measure your garment, since a typical adult chest print is about 10"–12" wide.
  • Only small single designs? The Individual Print Builder may be more cost-effective.

What if there's a problem with my order?

We stand behind our prints. If your transfers arrive with a printing defect or damage, contact us within 7 days of delivery or pickup with photos and your order number, and we'll reprint the affected items at no charge. Because of design and processing fees, we don't offer refunds, but we'll always make it right with a reprint. We can't cover issues caused by low-resolution files, spelling errors in submitted artwork, or incorrect pressing, so please double-check your designs before ordering.

Can I cancel or change my order?

Yes, if it hasn't entered production. Orders enter production at our daily 1 PM CT run. Contact us as soon as possible and we'll update your order. Once printing has started, we can't cancel or change it. We don't offer refunds, but we'll reprint any defective or damaged transfers for free.
